Possible Rivers on Mars

A new study has found that deep crevasses on Mars were created by rivers on Mars within the last couple billion years. This is a groundbreaking find because water is the key ingredient for sustaining life. The valleys found were approximately 800 feet wide and tens of miles long. Even though there is evidence of water in Mars' past, there is no evidence of life on the red planet. However, this does give NASA incentive to explore the poles of Mars where ice or water might still be stored underground. There have been discoveries of gullies on Mars which suggests that water might have flowed in smaller quantities as recently as 1.25 million years ago. The water that carved these valleys was from ice close to the surface that melted and created these rivers that carved out the valleys seen on Mars.
